Alles ist in Ordung! (all is well.)

I am totally immersed in German and it is sehr interassant (very interesting). I am able to understand about 75% of what my teachers are saying-they will not speak in English. If I say, "Ich verstehe nicht (I don't understand)", they explain it again in German instead of using English. Plus we students only speak German to each other outside of class even though most speak English very well.

In just these few days, I have started to answer in German automatically. Plus some of my internal speech (what I am thinking about) is already in German. It is amazing how quickly the brain adapts.

Yesterday I attended a seminar on the Weimar Republic. I struggled but was able to understand much of it even though the lecturer spoke fairly fast. Also enjoying German TV.  Watched the Simpsons and Family Guy-what a hoot to hear Bart speak in German.

I am in awe of the other students. Most of them speak at least two or three languages. Anna from Poland speaks Polish, English, German, French and Spanish. And she is only 22. Yikes! She commented that the European Union has given her the freedom to travel and attend language schools in member countries and her job prospects will be enhanced the more languages she speaks.

Finally met a student my age from Australia. However she was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It is truly a small world.

Tschüss,
Kris
